These Saturday nights are for our Latin

Swing thrown in. The friendly atmosphere sets the mood to mix, meet and dance with people from all the classes whilst putting into practice all the steps you have been learning.
It’s the chance to dance everything
from your Cha-Cha-Cha through to a Quickstep then maybe some Swing
or a Foxtrot. It all adds up to a great night out. Please bring
your own refreshments.

Important information concerning footwear at The Bristol Dance Centre
The Bristol Dance Centre (BDC) have recently spent £4000 on having their floor resurfaced during the summer
break and are keen to keep their new floor in top condition and scratch free. Please do not wear any type of shoe
that could damage the floor. These include narrow, stiletto and kitten heels or any shoes that need reheeling and
have fallen into disrepair.
Ladies, suitable footwear options for those of you joining our beginners classes at the BDC this January are any
smooth soled shoe with a slightly wider/broader heel such as block or wedge heels. For both Men and Ladies,
normal everyday shoes are fine, you do not need dedicated dance shoes to take part in classes and dances at the
BDC. Synthetic soles and heels are fine, leather soles and heels are ideal. Please make sure they are in good
condition and have not fallen into disrepair and have no nails or tacks protruding from the walking surface
that could damage the floor. As you enter the BDC please wipe your feet to ensure there is no grit attached
to the soles of your shoes that could potentially damage the floor. Please don’t be offended when we ask to
examine your heels as you enter the dance hall.
Trainers aren’t the best footwear to dance in, but they will certainly get you going.
“You’ll never fear the scratch inspectors, if you wear your heel protectors!”
For those of you who have invested in specialist dance shoes or for those who inadvertently turn up in high heels,
the BDC have insisted (as part of the contract of hire of the premises) that all ladies with narrow heeled shoes or
boots are required to wear heel protectors. These are small transparent synthetic sleeves that simply slip over the tip
of the heel. We have a selection of sizes which will fit most heel styles and shapes. These will be provided free of
charge when you arrive and we will fit them for you. If you are wearing dance shoes leave these protectors on your
shoes and wear them at our other venues. If you wish to use your shoes for outdoor use, simply remove the heel
protectors after the class or dance has finished, slip them in your bag and reuse them next time. You can then reuse
the same pair of heel protectors every time you attend the BDC. If you lose them, don’t worry, we will provide
another pair free of charge.
For flatter shoes with broader heels this procedure isn’t necessary. Please don't be offended, when we ask to
examine your heels. We have worked with these precautionary measures for the last four months and they haven’t
caused any problems.
Thank you for being careful about your choice of footwear in the BDC and helping us all to continue to use and enjoy
one of the largest dance floors in the South West.
