Dance classes are a great way of meeting new people whilst learning
a skill that will last a lifetime. Anyone can do it; come along
on your own or with a partner. In all our classes we encourage
you to dance with different partners throughout the night, which
makes the night very sociable and gives you the chance to meet
lots of new people, as well as being great fun. The classes are
very popular, informal and friendly. Dress is cool and casual. THERE IS NO NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE, JUST TURN UP IN EARLY JANUARY.

The seventh series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returned to our screens for 15 weeks this Autumn with up to ten million weekly viewers. The magic of the dancing and the transformation of the celebrities from absolute beginners to polished performers kept everyone glued to their screens. Ali Bastian danced a beautiful Viennese Waltz, Ricky Whittle tripped the light fantastic with his Quickstep and Natalie Cassidy showed us the fun and exuberance of the Jive. If you liked what you have seen or if you thought you could do better, give our classes a try. Make learning to dance your New Year’s resolution – everyone is doing it!
Latin & Ballroom features some of the world’s most popular partner dances. No other dance style has a greater range of rhythms, choreography and musical material at it’s disposal. Danced to the modern music of today and the classics of yesterday, this cocktail of dances is hard to beat. From the hot and spicy sounds of the Cha-Cha-Cha & Samba, to the elegance and sophistication of the Waltz & Tango, this cocktail of dances is hard to beat - there’s something for everybody. It is the essential dance style of today. Why not give it a try!
As a further bonus ‘Strictly Come Dancing Live’ will be touring the country in early 2010 and ‘Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals’ will be touring from April to July. Latin & Ballroom has never had such a high profile and is without doubt the most popular dance style of the moment!

Important information concerning footwear at The Bristol Dance Centre
The Bristol Dance Centre (BDC) have recently spent £4000 on having their floor resurfaced during the summer
break and are keen to keep their new floor in top condition and scratch free. Please do not wear any type of shoe
that could damage the floor. These include narrow, stiletto and kitten heels or any shoes that need reheeling and
have fallen into disrepair.
Ladies, suitable footwear options for those of you joining our beginners classes at the BDC this January are any
smooth soled shoe with a slightly wider/broader heel such as block or wedge heels. For both Men and Ladies,
normal everyday shoes are fine, you do not need dedicated dance shoes to take part in classes and dances at the
BDC. Synthetic soles and heels are fine, leather soles and heels are ideal. Please make sure they are in good
condition and have not fallen into disrepair and have no nails or tacks protruding from the walking surface
that could damage the floor. As you enter the BDC please wipe your feet to ensure there is no grit attached
to the soles of your shoes that could potentially damage the floor. Please don’t be offended when we ask to
examine your heels as you enter the dance hall.
Trainers aren’t the best footwear to dance in, but they will certainly get you going.
Thank you for being careful about your choice of footwear in the BDC and helping us all to continue to use and enjoy
one of the largest dance floors in the South West.
The other venues we use (The Elmgrove Centre, Cairn’s Road Baptist Church and St. Bonaventures) do not impose
such conditions on their users.
